Pursuant to Decision No.2492/QD-UBND dated November 07th 2006 of Thai Nguyen People’s Committee on approval for amending and supplementing Thai Nguyen Commercial development plan in period of 2006-2010, orientation to 2015 and strategy to 2020.
From point view of Thai Nguyen Commercial development up to 2020, based on advantage of geographic, population, human resource, the favorable mechanism policies for oriented import-export development focus on major targets as follows:
1. Export:
+ Thai Nguyen will orient to exported economy, focus on some advantage industries as iron, steel, mechanic, electronic, dynamics, forestry and agricultural processing, textile and garment etc,... Market expansion, commodity, domestic mobilization, effective and competitive improvement of enterprises are to:
- Speed up exported growth, to boot industrialization and modernization process.
- Change exported structure to raise up commodity’s value, to boot processing products and manufacture high tech products from local materials.
- Impulse and develop service export and local export.
+ Target: average growth rate of export turnover is 12% in period of 2008-2020.

2. Import:
+ Orientation to import some commodities as: equipment, machinery for production of local consumption goods and agricultural foodstuff to produce major commodities for export. Import high-tech and advanced equipment, machinery for production in period of Industrialization and Modernization to meet the demand of local conditions.
In the next coming years, the import markets are estimated mainly from some countries and areas as: Asia (China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and ASEAN countries), America, EU, Middle East, Eastern European etc,... Maintain existing markets as well as discover and expand new markets.
+ Target of import in 2008: USD 148 millions USD; in 2010: USD 150 millions; in 2015: USD 240 millions, in 2020: USD 360 millions.
3. Ability of Import-export enterprises in the location:
Target in 2008: 30 enterprises; in 2010: 40; in 2015: 50; in 2020: 60 s.
From orientation, import-export targets of Thai Nguyen Province above, the book: “Thai Nguyen Import-Export Ability” was published to support enterprises to introduce activities, images, products to both domestic and foreign partners in period of international economic integration. These are reliable enterprises for partners to develop cooperation, joint venture, investment and import-export agreement effectively in period of 2008-2010, orientation to 2015 and strategy to 2020.
