The ASIAN-TOUR was launched in 1997 as the initiative of European Union (EU) to promote and support trading activities among countries members of EU and Asia. This program provides support for organizations to establish mutual benefit relations between EU’s companies and Asia’s, especially for medium and small enterprises, as well as to promote frame conditions to boot investment and trading between 2 continents. The program has been prolonged for another 5 years from 2003-2004 with budget of 35 millions Euro to develop activities in 3 main fields: (i) Organize business forum and partner relations events; (ii) Develop Asian private economic sector. (iii) Build up legislations, networks and dialogues.
Some information about ASIAN -TOUR
Project “Asian-Europe link for stable tour management (Asian-Tour)” was co-sponsored by European Committee (EC). The project meets demands of Asian Investment Program 2006-2007 which aims at supporting directly trade among tourist enterprises in Euro and Asia through supporting Asian countries to integrate to international economy and encourage their own local stable economy.
Main targets:

To develop Asian stable and diversified tourism’s products combined with local social economic system.

To boot Asian ability and strategy to export qualified and stable tourism’s products to international market.

Technical assistance to strengthen tourism ability of 3 Asian partners countries (Nepal, Mongolia and Vietnam) through human resource development and international cooperation.
Major activities:
Phase No.1: Preparation:

Analyze tourism situation in Nepal, Mongolia, Vietnam.
Phase No.2: Activities to build up internal force:

Organize and implement training courses in Nepal, Mongolia and Italia.

Select students and participants to participate in events and training course in Nepal and Mongolia;

Seminar on Asian tourism opportunities in Italia.
-
5 working days of EU partners (seminar, meeting, educational tour) in Nepal and Mongolia.
Phase No.3: Activities after project.

Continue to provide technical assistance to partners on international commercial co-operation.

Announce result of the project.
Direct and indirect achievement:

Total 65 Asian participants, representatives from medium and small tour enterprises, supported promotion organizations (IBO) and local organizations.

15 representatives from Asian supported promotion organizations were trained and practiced in Italia and Slovenia.
-
20 representatives from medium and small/IBO Italian enterprises and 10 Slovenian ones have worked 5 days in Nepal and Mongolia.
